Current Issues

Children

According to UNICEF, children under 15 years of age account for about 45 per cent of Nigeria’s population, and the burden on education and other sectors has become overwhelming. Forty per cent of Nigerian children aged 6-11 do not attend any primary school.

Youth

The future of Nigeria belongs to the youths who are the leaders of tomorrow but they are daily faced with numerous challenges, especially girls and young women curious about good health, careers, safe sex and family planning.

HIV/AIDS

3.2 million Nigerians are living with HIV/AIDS. Only 21% of children living with HIV are receiving ART, and only 32% of pregnant women living with HIV are on ART. Women and girls also experienced higher infection rates, accounting for 53% of new infections in 2016.
